HIDESHI OKAMOTO: the Fitnessgarage creator

Prior to creating The Fitness Garage program, Hideshi coached track & field for 10 years as the first-ever Japanese NCAA Division I coach at the University of Colorado at Boulder. There, he developed and implemented training programs for the high jump, sprints, as well as for men's and women's skiing. Within his first year at Colorado, his sprint squad went from eighth to fourth place at the Big 8 Conference meet. With several years of experience coaching at the professional, collegiate, and high school levels, Hideshi is also an official Japanese Olympic team coach and a training consultant for the Romanian Athletic Federation (approved by Iolanda Bals, 1964 Olympic Gold medallist). He holds numerous professional certifications and is the director of the National Association of Speed and Explosion (NASE). Hideshi graduated in 1980 with a degree in English, and earned his graduate degree in physical education and kinesiology from Wyoming in 1984. He and his wife, Yasuko, have three sons: Kento, Yuto and Maito

JUSTIN WILLIAMS: Professional instructor

Justin Williams was born and raised in San Francisco and moved to Davis a couple of years ago to focus on his degree in Nutrition/Kinesiology. He is the only non Track and Field member with years of experience participating in competitive Basketball leagues for school and recreation. Justin centers his workouts around the Swiss ball, working on improving stability muscles (small muscles that support bigger ones) along with core training using one's body weight and numerous variety of other equipment at the garage.

Chelsea Azevedo: Professional instructor

Chelsea is the newest trainer at the Fitness Garage. Her love and passion for exercise makes her a great "fit" with the garage.She spends a lot of her time creating new workouts for the iron fathers and the soccer pro girls. Chelsea's training style is quiet but aggressive. She combines balance drills with resistance bands as her main focus on exercise. Chelsea, objective is to focus on inner muscles and work outwards.

TOLU WUSU: Professional instructor

Tolu Wusu is also one of the longest serving trainers at the Fitness Garage. Tolu was raised in Palo Alto, California then moved up Davis to participate on the Track and Field team at University of California, Davis as a jumper. Tolu's degree in exercise biology combined with multiple injuries he has endured himself, Tolu is able to perform as a trainer on a unique level. His training style includes primarily injury prevention and strengthening muscle-neuron connection. Tolu is known for his knowledge of the human body and his creative exercises. Even though Tolu is loyal to his alma mater, he is a huge fan of Stanford athletics, and enjoys brief road trips on his scooter.

ROSS TATE: Professional instructor

Ross Tate is currently studying Exercise Biology . His love for sports and muscular functionality allows for great workouts that help prevent injury and increase strength at the same time. After college, he plans on becoming a physical therapist with a focus on rehabilitation of young athletes. Ross' style here at the Fitness Garage includes a balance of body strength and a focus on leg power.


IGOR SERIBA: Professional instructor

Igor Seriba has about 1 year under his belt at the Fitness Garage. He is currently studying Psychology. Igor incorporates explosive and creative workouts for the youngsters.He is starting a new "Fit-Hop" at the start of the new year. Come dance yourself into shape. Igor works hard to create an effective workout that doesn't become repetitive and overwhelming.
